Judge Peter Forman takes lead in Independence primary vote

Dutchess County Court Judge Peter Forman established a two-to-one vote lead in the Independence Party primary for his re-election Tuesday.

With all precincts reporting, Judge Forman took an overwhelming 68% of the Election Night tally over his opponent, putting him closer to his fourth line on the November ballot. The final total will be determined after approximately 740 absentee ballots are counted next week.

Judge Forman thanked the voters after the vote totals came in: “My family and I are energized by this news and the momentum it shows for the campaign going forward. Thank you to everyone who got us to this point; I'm confident that the current pattern of returns will hold and we will continue to November.”

Judge Forman is certain to run on the Republican, Conservative and Libertarian Party lines. His opponent, local lawyer Jessica Segal, will be running on the Democratic and Working Families lines. The Independence and Green lines will be determined when absentee ballots are counted; the count is slated to begin June 30.

The general election is scheduled for November 3.
